🩻 How FOR built a reusable visual library to power a global dental education platform

The Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR.org) needed clear, high-quality medical illustrations for a new continuing education platform for professionals in dentistry. We set up a shared, on-brand library with all images created, templates and approval notes. This lead to the utilization of consistent visuals across ebooks, epapers, and modules.

Problem

  • Need for evidence‑based, anatomically accurate visuals across many topics

  • Inconsistent styles across publications and channels

  • Rework and repeated redrawing of similar diagrams

  • Delays from long review cycles and multi‑platform requirements

What the client got

  • Visual language guide with do/don’ts and examples

  • Template pack (anatomy, procedures, timelines, icon set)

  • A library of +300 visual assets, expandable by topic

  • Simple request and approval flow suitable for multi‑author teams

6 ebooks and 6 epapers shipped with consistent visuals

  • Review loops reduced on standard assets (target ≤2 rounds)

  • Faster first approvals on templated figures

  • Reuse across modules improved cost efficiency and time to publication

What we did:

  • Audited existing materials and extracted brand basics (colors, type, diagram style)

    • We helped with multi-platform compatible medical artwork

    • Organized a central library with tags for reuse across ebooks, epapers, and web modules

    • Embedded claim references and approval notes into working files

    • We created a consistent visual language across scientific content

    • The overall library of reusable medical illustrations has proven to be cost-effective

Why it works

  • One source of truth for both still, web and motion

  • Modular components let you animate without redesign

  • Side-by-side still and GIF makes complexity easier to understand

The Solution for medical education is a Scientific Brand Image Library™

A branded library of custom medical illustrations designed for your institution, procedures, and educational philosophy. Your team draws from one centralized visual system instead of starting from scratch every time.

What this means for your institution:

  • Reusable assets: Custom illustrations of your procedures used across training, product documentation, and marketing.

  • Faster course development: No more searching for visuals or settling for generic stock images, your team draws from a branded library

  • Learner confidence: Consistent visual language improves comprehension and retention across your entire curriculum

  • Compliance-ready: Every illustration designed to meet medical education, anatomical accuracy and regulatory standards

  • Brand differentiation: Your institution becomes recognizable by its visual signature. When physicians see your illustration style, they know it's from your training program.

Working with Visualmedics was my best collaboration with a visual communications studio so far. They not only delivered the work for the project as requested but went one step further and actually became a part of our team long-term, advising and supporting the project with professional knowledge and creativity.
